The Christmas Island Blue-tailed Skink (Cryptoblepharus egeriae) became extinct in the wild on Christmas Island and are being bred in captivity on the island and Taronga Park Zoo (Sydney).
They have been purposely introduced to the Cocos Keeling Islands to prevent them from becoming extinct.
