Eastern Small eyed Snake Cryptophis nigrescens from Victoria
Although this is a relatively small species, some people have suggested that a bite could possibly be life threatening, especially from large specimens, so standard venomous snake bite treatment procedures should be followed as a precaution! Note that death from snake bite when treated correctly
is uncommon in Australia.
This species may have a pink to red belly
and is often mistaken for a juvenile Red-bellied black snake
