SOUTHERN LEAF-TAILED GECKO Saltuarius swaini  Nansi Finch

Picture above shows a Saltuarius swaini from Lower Beechmont in the Hinterland off the Gold Coast QLD,
and the picture below shows the detail in the tail of the same lizard.
The spines on the tail help to break up the outline of the lizard when it is camouflaged on a tree.

Saltuarius swaini is found in subtropical rainforests in far eastern Australia, around the New South Wales/ Queensland Border

SOUTHERN LEAF-TAILED GECKO Saltuarius moritzi from Coffs Harbour NSW   
Juvenile specimen Saltuarius moritzi from Coffs Harbour NSW. Saltuarius moritzi is found in New South Wales, from south of the Clarence River, extending from the coast to the New England Tablelands

It is found to the North of Newcastle, extending northwards to Washpool National Park and Coffs Harbour
