Distribution:- South America in the Amazon Basin.

Including  Colombia, Ecuador, Peru,  Bolivia, Brazil, Venezuela, Suriname and the Guianas

Comments:- Grows to approximately 1.8 metres (6ft)

The Emerald Tree Boa, (Corallus caninus) resembles the Green tree python,( Morelia viridis), from  New Guinea and  Australia. This is an example of convergent evolution.

The most obvious difference between the Green Tree Python,( Morelia viridis) and the Emerald Tree Boa, (Corallus caninus) is the location of the heat sensing pits on the sides of the head, which are on the top lips of Emerald Tree Boas and on the bottom lips of Green Tree Pythons
