Note that a recent paper has proposed that the subspecies of Emydura macquarii be either been given full species status, or become subspecies of Emydura krefftii

The table below lists the new proposed names however they are not currently in use

Short neck turtles in the genus Emydura from the Clarence, Macleay, Nambucca, Hastings and Bellinger Rivers NSW, are related but status is uncertain, and new names have not been proposed at this stage.
