SAND MONITOR
Varanus gouldii
This specimen has a tick in front of its eye.
The next two specimens are from near Wilcannia, NSW.


Also called the Sand Monitor or Goulds Goanna/Monitor. This species is often confused with the Yellow Spotted Monitor V. panoptes.
Some reference books refer to this species as Varanus gouldii.
